A friend of mine showed off his new Media Center PC last night at a geek party.  That motivated me to try it out on my laptop just to play.  I decided to remove Linux from my laptop and replace it with mediacenter in a dual boot with my primary winXP installation.  Without thinking it all the way through I deleted my linux partitions.  When I rebooted the Grub> command prompt was just sitting there.  Ooops.  I don't know how to use grub at the command prompt so I went searching for some answers.  I found a newsgroup post explaining how to fix my problem.

So, if you are a non-linux guy and you are faced with a Grub> prompt and want to just go back to normal windows boot loader, boot with your WindowsXP disk and go into the recovery console command prompt.  Then use the FIXMBR command.  this will remove Grub as the bootloader and replace it with the normal windows boot loader.
