After receiving about 200 comment spams over the weekend I decided I couldn't wait any longer to try to fix it. I found this article that used a sql trigger to solve the problem. This is appealing because it's so easy to setup. I just finished setting up so we'll see how it goes.
I'm sorry to everyone who subscribes and has been getting a ton of spam.
