I had played with subversion in the past, but I never used it on a real project.  I still have a lot to learn, but to just use it as a simple code repository is simple with Tortoise Svn.  I'm using to keep both my desktop development box, and my laptop code in sync.  It's so fast and easy.  It really just blows source safe away.  I'm sure team system can compete, but it can't compete with free.
